Our history
Established in 1921, the Queensland Cotton story began with a gentlemen’s agreement at Brisbane’s Executive Building. Originally named The Australian Cotton Growing Association Limited, the corporation was founded as Queensland’s cotton producing potential grew, with many returning soldiers from WWI taking to the land.
By 1922, cotton gins in both Brisbane and Rockhampton were up and running. Throughout our 100-years, numerous gins have been opened in our major cotton growing regions. Today, Queensland Cotton operates nine gins, three of which have become warehousing and export hubs.
In 1926, Australian Cotton Growing Association Limited renamed as we know it today – Queensland Cotton. Innovations, new technologies and investments continued as cotton production increased throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
Queensland Cotton was acquired by Olam International in 2007 and became part of the Olam International Global Cotton Business. Queensland Cotton has been and continues to be, an integral part to the Australian cotton industry. Our history is steeped in regional communities, where we have nurtured long standing relationships and are committed to providing world-class services.
